TEACHING STYLE:
Upbeat Vinyasa. Creative, intentional, strong and liberating.
WHY YOGA?:
Through the years, yoga has been my outlet and anchor. It has helped connect me to the most authentic version of myself. I am continuously amazed by the depth of the practice and how its teachings seem infinite. As a student and teacher, I have witnessed its transformational effects and the way it can ground, strengthen and empower those who are open to it.

FAVORITE POSE:
Bridge -How can a pose be good for almost everything?!
TEACHING STYLE:
I focus on alignment, functional movement for long-term mobility, and improving breathing patterns, imbalances, and weaknesses for better longevity movement. Besides the physical aspect of the practice, teaching tools help students take their practice off of their mat into their life to apply during challenging/ stressful moments in life.
WHY YOGA?
Community. But more importantly, self discovery. Yoga helped me live a fulfilled, happy, confident, life while working on self love, and learning to be unapologetically authentic to be myself. And learning yoga had nothing to do with movement to transform someone's life although yoga classes do.

Astavakrasana (Eight Angle Pose) or any arm balance really
TEACHING STYLE:
The core of my teaching is stylistically therapeutic, embodied and intuitive. The student is the teacher and I have the privilege of witnessing their unique relationship to their bodies. I know I’m doing a good job in a class when people are working at their own pace and listening to their body's cues.My method is based on layering-starting with a base movement and then building in compound movements. This gives each person an opportunity to find their personal edge.
I move away from traditional punitive, “no pain, no gain” language and from numbers, sets and reps.
I encourage individuals to see muscle fatigue less as the point of breakdown and more as an opportunity for therapeutic growth.
My favorite quote is: “Workout because you love your body, not because you hate it."
WHY YOGA?:
As a former college athlete, fitness instructor and personal trainer, I left the fitness industry due to its toxic messages.Yoga provided me with an invitation to move my body while learning to listen to it, not by blowing past its edges. As a trauma informed yoga therapist and eating disorder specialist, I encourage somatic, integrative movement. Bringing weight training into the yoga practice is like being the change I’ve wanted to see in the world!

Headstand some days, heart bench other days!
TEACHING STYLE:
I try to teach what my students need. You can teach the same poses slowly with a focus on alignment, or with more speed and flow to get them breathing and building heat. My goal is to always offer what my students need, even if it means changing up my teaching plans to meet them where they are.
WHY YOGA?:
Yoga continually helps me shed the layers I’ve built up, but don’t need to carry. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to let go of what they don’t need. It’s an honor to be able to teach yoga and offer this gift to others.

FAVORITE POSE:
My favorite pose is Tree Pose-Vrikshasana for many reasons. For starters, I'm a plant/botanicals lover, and trees are a type of plant. Visually, I find the similarities between trees and humans fascinating, the roots similar to our veins, the branches similar to our lungs, the unique trunk rings similar to our fingerprints...As a pose, I really enjoy teaching this because it appears so easy, but can actually be challenging!
I also like Tree Pose because there are many options/levels, which makes this very accessible to everyone (and I like knowing that everyone feels they can do this pose). I normally offer using the wall as support with the resting foot against the ankle, and move up from there. Then there are so many options for hands/arms! and add stillness or movement..etc etc. I really love this pose
TEACHING STYLE:
I'm very big on making yoga accessible to all. I like teaching beginners/basic/slow/gentle because I enjoy showing people that THEY CAN DO IT! I also enjoy slow movement because I personally find movement with breath at a slower pace creates more introspection, which is yoga.
WHY YOGA?:
Wow, this could be long, but I'll summarize! I started in my 40's, and only because I had some downtime with work (started at Yoga Nanda). For the first time, I felt a connection with my body, and I met wonderful people, so I continued. I think I even questioned "why yoga" at one point, and it sounds crazy, but something just told me "it will help you", so I continued. And yoga has helped me. It's helped me get through life's obstacles, helped me connect, accept, & appreciate with my body, helped me build better relationships with others, and has helped me "believe" and have faith in something bigger. And because of how yoga has changed my life, I feel called to share it with others.

FAVORITE POSE:
Triangle
TEACHING STYLE:
I like to build on the foundational poses to create a flow that is fun and accessible to all levels. I love to weave music and hands-on assists into the practice to create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.
WHY YOGA?
I was not sure yoga would be the right fit for me. But, living in NYC, around the corner from a studio, I decided to give it a try. I took an all-levels class and did not know what was going on, but I was hooked. In the following years, I developed a regular practice and then took the leap to enter a teacher training program. Yoga truly is a practice that helps one "make space". Some days this space is more physical, some days more mental or emotional, but it always meets you where you are at and provides just what you need.

In every class I will guide students through Sun Salutations, Classical, Sun A and Sun B, either dynamically, moderately or with gentle holds. Expect a grounding, intentional and slow paced practice through traditional foundational postures, emphasizing alignment, while building strength and flexibility. Modifications and exploration of postures are always encouraged.WHY YOGA?:
Yoga and Meditation is not just my practice, it is my philosophy. After 30 years, it has been the path that gives me structure, more freedom and joy in my daily living.

FAVORITE POSE:
Paschimottonasana (western intense stretch pose), seated forward bend.
TEACHING STYLE:
Ashtanga-based: slow & steady breathing, focused gaze. Holding space for students to have their own experience.
WHY YOGA?:
Ashtanga yoga is also known as yoga chikitsa, or yoga therapy. The benefits of a regular practice have helped me immensely. What I love most about yoga is connecting with community, sweat & movement, & making space for the sacred. When I step onto the mat I feel connected to the vastness of existence, humbly supplicant to dynamic animate forces, & a sense that I’m tapping into a deep mystery.

WHY YOGA?
It is through this practice that I found the greatest connection. Humbled by the gifts and opportunities offered by my teachers and by this practice, it is my life’s work to honor what has come before and what will carry on, and to offer the teachings with the utmost integrity and to bring my students to their own self-realization of all that they are inside of them.

FAVORITE POSE:
Depending on the day: Marichyasana B, Bhekasana (Frog pose), Pigeon Pose, Wheel Pose
TEACHING STYLE:
My teaching is rooted in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga presented in a clear, compassionate, and accessible way. Classes include a consistent sequence of postures deliberately linked together by breath with a strong emphasis on the internal qualities of the practice. Though the practice is fluid, it does not move at too quick of a pace, so students have time to pause, breathe, and experience a posture before moving on to the next.
WHY YOGA?
The consistency of my yoga practice has provided me with a grounding stability amidst the unexpected, sometimes challenging shifts in my life. It is the tether that keeps me rooted and connected to myself no matter what is happening outside and I am deeply committed to helping my students discover their own version of that tether.

Savasana
TEACHING STYLE:
I am known for my inspirational teaching that incorporates challenging vinyasa flow with an emphasis on proper alignment. My passion for yogic philosophy is the hallmark of my teaching style. Students come for the yogic reflections, chanting mantra and meditation as much as for the physicality of the practice.
WHY YOGA?
My interest in yoga began over 30 years ago when I wandered into a yoga class at a local yoga studio and, after taking a few classes, noticed that something was changed in me. I was happier. I was surprised to find that, despite my life circumstances, I felt lighter and joyful.

YOGA TEACHER
200 hour YTT at Transcending Yoga
FAVORITE POSE:
Anjaneyasana with Eagle Arms variation. I love how it enhances stability and flexibility of the lower body but also encourages the opening of the heart space through the backbend.
TEACHING STYLE:
My class has a slow but steady pace, which aims to strengthen body and mind while promoting mobility and balance. Students will explore intent, effort and challenge, combined with comfort and ease. I like to focus on proper alignment and provide clear, adaptable cues. My goal is for students to gain agency over their body and feel empowered and confident in their practice - as they walk their own path to self-mastery. I also offer moments of pause and self-reflection so students can develop the spiritual aspect of yoga and build skills of presence and awareness, in hopes they will be transferred from the mat into their daily life.
WHY YOGA?
Since the day I began my yoga journey, several years ago, the practice has been a non-negotiable part of my life. Asides from the physical benefits - maintaining a youthful, energetic and strong body - what I have appreciated the most is the mental balance and composure I've been gaining over time. Cultivating equanimity of one’s mind is absolutely essential to help us navigate life’s experiences and challenges. And, as a teacher, to be able to share all this with my students has been an absolute joy and a privilege.

Janu Sirsasana A
TEACHING STYLE:
I truly believe in finding the balance between effort and ease in not only each pose but also within the types of practice in order to honor what my body and mind need in the moment. For this reason, I enjoy everything from ashtanaga to a creative flow with fun music to yin and restorative.
WHY YOGA?
Like many people, I started yoga to help with stress and get more movement, but I soon realized it had so much more to offer.Yoga consistently reminds me to trust myself, to be patient and present and to just breathe. From creating a community, to meeting you where you are at any given moment and knowing that it is infinitely modifiable (thanks to my wonderful teachers!), I truly believe yoga is accessible and beneficial for all.
